Four teachers from Chinese Culture University are listed among the top 2% of scientists in the world in 2020, according to a recent report published by Stanford University.

The five scholars of CCU include Dr. Feng-Tse Lin of Department of Applied Mathematics, Dr. Pi-Guey Su of the Department of Chemistry of the College of Science, Han-Chang Shih of the Department of Chemical Materials and Engineering, Dr. Chien- Shu Hsieh of the Department of Engineering and Huey-Ming Lee of the Department of Information Management of the College of Business Administration. Their research impact was recognized as valuable on the global research platform.

The report was prepared by a team of experts at Stanford University based on the data from Scopus. Scopus is Elsevier’s abstract and citation database, listing more than 7 million scientists in various fields. Among these, 2% were named. The list is compiled based on “career-long impact (1960-2020) ” and “single year impact (2022)” to evaluate the research achievement of scholars.

According to Elsevier, the world-leading company providing information analytics, 1,479 researchers are included in the list. Among them, four CCU scholars have shown their valuable achievements.

The Top 2% 2020 is based on the academics’ scientific achievements measured by the bibliometric index. The evaluation criteria include the H-index, the impact factor, total citations (including self-citations), co-authorship-adjusted hm-index, etc.  Most of the scholars in the Top 2% are from the United States, followed by the U.K. and Germany. Taiwan is ranked 15 among the countries.

Dr. Pi-Guey Su of the Department of Chemistry is included in the list for his “career-long impact (1960-2020)” and “single year impact (2020)”. He has published 88 papers. Dr. Su said that teaching and researching are the tasks he liked the most, and education and research go hand in hand. Therefore, he put his best effort to engage both. He believed his inclusion in the list resulted from not only his effort but also the well-designed research environment and system. Chinese Culture University has been providing teachers excellent resources and support to encourage research outcomes, thus, we can enjoy the result. In the future, the school expects an even better performance from its faculty.
