Dr. G. T.-J. Chen, Chair of the Board of Regents initiated the “Top Notch Foundation” for Chinese Culture University and called on alumni and the communities to help pour money and resources to build up an excellent learning and working environment for students, faculty, and staff. Based on the vision and principle of the Founder of CCU, Dr. Chang Chi-Yun, Dr. Chen planned to establish the “Zi Ruo Lecture Hall” in the College of Social Science, which is located in the Da Cheng Building. The establishment is expected to bring great benefits to the school. Dr. Chen’s plan came from the “Harvard Lecture Hall” of National Taiwan University when he visited the university.

The foundation has already obtained support from quite a few enterprises. Five leaders of big corporations provide funds for the lecture hall. JUT Group, the sole supporter, has been funding the construction of the lecture hall for the College of Business. Dr. G. T.-J. Chen has asked honorary professor Ho-nien Au for his calligraphy to be made as inscriptions on two lecture halls.

Dr. Chen said the name of the “Zi Ruo” Lecture Hall came from the Chinese phrase, “Tai Ran Zi Ruo,” which means to keep eased and be calm. The ceremony of the donation made by five corporations will be held on April 12. The signing for the establishment of the second “Harvard Lecture Hall” in the College of Business at Da En Building will take place on April 26.

The construction of “Zi Ruo” Lecture Hall will start after June and is expected to complete in the coming semester. The students and faculty will be able to use the state-of-the-art facility, including a conference room and seminar room equipped with cutting-edge technology for video conferencing. At the same time, the College of Business will offer core courses based on case studies for the program, which will improve the quality of teaching and learning.
