To support international students and exchange students from partner institutions around the world, our university offers a diverse selection of Mandarin language courses and Chinese cultural experiences. These include required and elective courses, as well as free, non-credit small-group tutoring sessions. The curriculum ranges from beginner to upper-intermediate levels and focuses on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Courses on Chinese society and culture are also available, aiming to strengthen students’ overall Chinese proficiency while allowing them to earn academic credit.

In addition, the Office of International Affairs organizes a variety of cultural immersion activities. Through engaging, hands-on experiences, students gain deeper insights into the Chinese language and culture, improve their language abilities, and build lasting connections with Taiwan.

Required: Interdisciplinary Program – I Love Chinese Culture

The interdisciplinary program is a mandatory part of the university curriculum. Each student must select one program, consisting of six courses totaling 12 credits. Undergraduate students make their program selection in the second semester of their first year and begin coursework in their second year.

To meet the specific needs of international students learning Chinese, the Office of International Affairs offers the “I Love Chinese Culture” interdisciplinary program. This program blends Mandarin language instruction with cultural education to help students better adjust to academic life in Taiwan, enhance their communication skills, and develop intercultural understanding. It also provides a solid foundation for further studies and future career opportunities.
